Boerewors is a beef sausage from South Africa that always contains beef, but it can also contain a mixture of other meats like lamb, pork or venison such as kudu, or springbok.

Our authentic boerewors are made using quality beef and meat products.

South African boerewors are usually packed as a continuous spiral and often served with pap that is made using “mielie meel” and a tomato and onion sauce.

There is only one way to truly enjoy our boerewors and that is on a braai but can also be prepared in the oven or fried in the pan.

If you are South African then you will know that talking about the fat content in boerewors is almost as hard as discussing politics or religion, each one has their own opinion.

Most boerewors recipes will have a fat content of about 10%.

If, for example, you decide to use 50% beef and 50% venison, you can increase your fat because venison is very lean and hardly have any fat.

That being said you will find many South Africans that are making their own boerewors will push the fat content up to even 30% because it adds to the taste of the meat and most of it cookout when you braai(bbq) the boerewors.

Then you also get different flavors of boerewors like garlic, peri-peri, cheese, and even chutney flavored wors.

I believe that it all comes down to personal choice and that there is no right or wrong to do this as long as you enjoy it with good friends and family.
